Hello guys, so I have finally decided to build my own desktop

But when i finally sat down and looked at the different parts that I would like I got completely lost within the market.

What I am looking for is a high end PC with some overclocking possibility, thus far I have bought 16gb 2133MHz RAM, and have decided to build the computer around a 1080/1070.

I am living with my girlfriend in a rather tiny apartment, and she really hates it when my current PC turns the room into a sauna and are making high fan noise so I am also looking for a rather silent cooler, be it liquid or not.

And to top it all off i was hoping for a somewhat white themed PC, but is far from necessary.

I am really lost on the CPU/motherboard market, and what kind of case go with the different kind of cooling solution and what not

Hope you can help! :)

The hardware (and overclock) are your main problems, considering heat. Heat will have to leave the case at some point, and will turn your room into a sauna. Better fans/quiet pc will still take the heat out of your components, and into your personal sauna.

You might want to watch some of the youtube vids Linus has put up, where he is doing a watercooling project for his (former) headquarters. He did place some water cooling radiators outside his room. If you would really consider this, just get some more info about that subject, since he failed a bit. (leaking heat from all those tubes, into the room...)

well on the bright side in the winter you dont have to pay extra money for heating your house up lol. anyways i think the personal heater box issues is unavoidable so the best you can do is install silent coolers rather than a load ass stock fan. oh the intel one is load af and the AMD one is worse. that shit spins at 7,000 RPM when i play battlefield 4.

here is a baseline feel free to edit or change anything to your budget or whatever you desire. for example if you want a 500GB SSD and a 2 TB HDD then feel free to edit. or if you want a bigger case then add. or if you want to change the PSU since the one i put is insane overkill then go ahead

That actually looks really nice, thanks!

Although is 1000W really needed? i wouldve thought that 750W wouldve been enough

like i said if you think 1000w is overkill which it really is unless you SLI or CrossFire then by all means swap it out for a much cheaper 650w or 750w. i got you that PSU to give you a massive headroom for future upgrades but if you arent upgrading then just get a 750w

Oh ofc, yeah might just stick to the 1000W then, always wanted to go SLI :D

to be honest SLI isnt worth it at all so id recommend you save that $$$ for something else so in this case id recommend you swap the PSU for a 750w or 650w if you are on a budget

It will keep the apartment from becoming a furnace, but it would be mildly loud (Noctua fans are quieter than the included Corsair fans in the H100i v2.)

For just a tower that is a big budget.

Do you have a monitor?  What is the resolution and refresh rate?  1920x1080 @ 60Hz?

You don't need a 1000W PSU for sli on GTX 1070s or GTX 1080s.

Bought the RAM because they were on sale, I figured that i couldnt hurt, and that they would fit in whatever motherboard i would buy? is this not the case?

You are losing performance by not grabbing faster RAM.  RAM being so cheap, there really is no point in getting slower 2133MHz RAM for a high end build.

Any game that has a high CPU overhead will see a noticeable performance boost from having 3000MHz RAM instead.  Where will you see the difference?  The dips, or minimum FPS.  That number will be higher.  That means a more stable experience while gaming.  Since the price is so similar, there is no point in settling for lower speed RAM.

4K... okay... 1080 it is then.

I recommended a build above.

@FailWhale

Each 1080 has a TDP of 180W, so we will go with 200W.  200W + 200W = 400W

CPU, SSD, HDD, Fans, LEDs = 200W

600W, and that is a generous estimate.  A good 750W would be fine. An 850W will run with a little less stress on it.
