So you're saying that I should rather be using 1080 instead of 4k?

Its still possible for me to return the RAM, if it really has that much of an impact.

The research I did upon the date of purchase just suggested that the higher frequency of the RAM would add 1 - 2 fps, and going up to 3000MHz actually led to a small fps drop due to the RAM having a high frequency at the cost of latency.

Was even a Linus video stating it, but it was rather old so thing have probably changed since then, and also I'm a rookie at this.

xD No, a GTX 1080.

Don't go with Linus' testing of everything.  It is not thorough enough a lot of the time.

You said that you only gain 1-2 FPS.  What I am saying is you will have a more stable gaming experience when there is a game that heavily needs CPU power.  Your minimum FPS will be better, not the maximum FPS.

If you notice Lays' testing on Tomb Raider (2013), the difference is nothing.  TR does not need CPU power at all.  It is all GPU.  Faster RAM in this game won't make a difference.

Look up the affects of RAM speed in a game like Fallout 4 and then you will see why faster RAM is worth grabbing.

oh thank god, you had me worried there!

Hmm interesting, ill go get them refunded and get some faster ones :)

It is not the end of the world.  2133MHz is not that slow, it is just not optimal because the price for RAM is so inexpensive right now.

One last thing, should i consider whether the RAM i buy is in 4 sticks or 2?

Two.  Skylake supports dual channel RAM.  Having four sticks won't kill the performance but places extra stress on the memory controller.  Two is better.
