Help with new build

Go to solution Solved by Djole123,

Ok, so I see the dilema.

Here's a thing, some (if not most) games don't support multiple GPUs, so in that case, your second 980 is useless.

I'd say to go for the 1080, it's a bleeding edge card that has lots of potential. Two GPUs are not worth it until most games support it.

Hey guys, I need some help. I've watched countless benchmarks of the GTX 980Ti sli vs the GTX 1080 in 3440x1440. Of course the 980ti sli beats the 1080, but i still cant decided whether or not i should go with the 1080 or the 980ti. I can get two gigabyte windforce 980ti for $450 each or buy a single 1080 for around 600. Is there any major advantage to getting a 1080 over dual 980ti's? I want max settings with 3440x1440, the other parts of my build is

6700k

asus sabertooth mark s

16Gb crucial 2400mhz

2 samsung 850 evos (one is 256 and other is 1tb)

i could really use some help making the final decision for the build.

thanks

Agree except with the last bit.

Less and less games are supporting SLI nowadays. As single GPU's get more and more powerful, there is less of a need for SLI

Yeah, I agree with what @Djole123 said. Another advantage is that because the 1080 is the newest and best card out, it'll ultimately last you longer.

ok sounds good, I'm going to wait till more aftermarket cards start popping up. I really like the all white one from galax

Galax HoF? That does look cool and it has it's own unique features, but it is heavily overpriced.

I saw a video on tom's hardware that I believe said that there was a white one that wasn't the HoF. I really want a white card to go with my theme of white artic camo.
