I am planning on buying a new pc, mainly because i dont have much time to build it on my own but still want a nice gaming pc. Right now my rig is set as

Gaming Chassis: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M ATX Mid-Tower Gaming Case w/ USB 3.0, Side-Panel Window (Black + Dual Full size Acrylic window Panels)

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.00 GHz Eight-Core AM3+ CPU 8MB L2 Cache & Turbo Core Technology

CPU / Processor Cooling Fan: Asetek 570LXL 240mm Liquid CPU Cooling System w/ Copper Cold Plate (2 x Standard 120MM Fans)

Motherboard: GIGABYTE 970-Gaming SLI AMD 970 ATX w/ USB 3.1, Intel GbLAN, 1x M.2, 2 PCIe x16, 2 PCIe x1, 2 PCI

RAM / System Memory: 16GB (8GBx2) DDR3/2133MHz Dual Channel Memory (G.SKILL Ripjaws X)

Video Card: GeForce® GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 (Pascal)[VR Ready] (Single Card)

Power Supply: 650 Watts - Corsair CSM Series CS650M 80 Plus Gold Certified Modular Ultra Quiet Power Supply

Hard Drive: 120GB Intel 540s SSD + 1TB SATA III Hard Drive

Internal Wireless Network Card: GIGABYTE 802.11AC Wi-Fi up to 867 Mbps + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo w/ Dual Antenna PCI-E Adapter

Optical Drive: ASUS 24X Internal multi DVD-Writer / 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R

Sound: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO

Is this a good set up or are there some things that i could change to get a bit more bang for my buck? my Budget is around $1500 - $1600

Hi! I don't recommend the FX-8350 for gaming. An i5-6600K or i5-6500 is a better idea. I'll give you a pcpartpicker link for $1500 US.

I agree with Energycore that fx CPU is not good. They are old (2-3 years ago), and the old AM3+ sockets wont give you any room for future upgrading (zen will use new sockets). Since you don't wanna build it urself I am presuming you are using something like IBuyPower to build it for you? If so, try to use their Intel options instead of AMD ones.

Pcpartpicker lists have built-in compatibility checker. Unless the site says parts aren't compatible, they should work together no problem. (The Enthoo Pro Acryllic is the same case as the Enthoo Pro, but with an acryllic side panel window).

I would honestly recommend that you build the computer yourself. You've seen the difference in value between getting the computer at a custom store and getting the parts, and it's a fun process that will also allow you to more easily troubleshoot your computer in the future, since you'll be more familiar with what's inside.

I am considering it more and more now especially since I will have less of a chance of the system arriving as a pile of rubble.

We can help you out if you want to build the computer. There are many guides to building a PC and honestly the process of picking out the parts is the harder stuff (that's what we're here for :)).

Otherwise it's just a very pricey set of legos.

Yes and the config came to 1550. Thanks for the suggestions and I'm really starting to consider building it myself now. If and when I do in the next couple weeks il be sure to upload some pics.

Tips and reasons with this parts list:

I choose the i5 6600K because an i7 6700K makes very little impact on gaming performance (0-5 FPS on CPU demanding titles at 1080p-1440p). The i7 is a waste of money if you are not doing a task that requires more than 4 cores, which is very rare for now.

The Gigabyte G1-Z170X-GAMING 6 is a great motherboard with two Ethernet ports and has a ton of features. Also has a rear-IO cover.

The Corsair Vengeance LPX memory is fine as well.

The MasterCase Pro 5 allows plenty of airflow with those 3 Corsair 140mm fans in the front and 1 140mm in the back. The fans also add some color to the case with red LED's.

The H00i v2 is an improved version of the H100i and preforms better than the H100i GTX, with a smaller price tag. You would definitely mount that in the top of the case.

The Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM fans would be used to replace the fans on the raiator. They are quiter (still pretty loud) and have better pressure.

The EVGA P2 650W power supply was cheap when I selected (cheaper than the G2 650W somehow). It is 80+ Platinum rated and is one of the best power supplies on the market.

The WD Black 1TB should store all the games and other stuff you want to put on that thing. It is very loud though.

The 850 EVO is one of the best 2.5" SSD's on the market.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC Gaming ACX 3.0 Video Card is a great card. Very good for gaming. And it features a good cooler, the ACX 3.0 cooler, which will allow you to game under full load with lower temperatures than a stock cooler. Expect Very Great Assistance (Acronym for EVGA) if you have questions, as EVGA has excellent customer service.

The NZXT AC-GRID-10-M1 Grid Cooling makes it so cable management is better around the motherboard. Connect this to the 4 140mm fans. I recommend putting it on the bottom compartment. There is an added 3-pin fan cable so use that to connect to connect the rear fan to the hub. NOTE: this is necessary if you get the Gigabyte board.

The NZXT CB-3F Cable would be used to connect the GRID to the motherboard (It's sleeved, so it looks much better than a non-sleeved cable). Necessary if you get the GRID.

EDIT: Changed the SSD, HDD, and Motherboard. Added a fan extension and a fan hub. Also expanded the description.

I agree on the build but there's no reason to get a WD Black and the CS1311 isn't a great SSD. I'd go 1TB WDBlue and 250 / 500GB 850 EVO.

I choose the i5 6600K because an i7 6700K makes very little impact on gaming performance (0-5 FPS on CPU demanding titles). The case allows plenty of airflow with those 3 140mm fans in the front and 1 140mm in the back (The MasterCase Pro 5 is also a very good case). The H00i v2 is an improved version of the H100i and preforms better than the H100i GTX, with a smaller price tag. The noctua fans can be subtracted if you don't want to spend $44 on 2 fans for the radiator. The P2 650W power supply was cheap when I selected (cheaper than the G2 650W somehow). The WD Black 2TB should store all the games and other stuff you want to put on that thing.

Nice parts list man!!!

although those fans I would not recommend I have heard some bad things about them.

Ok will do. And the power supply should come with directions on what gets plugged in where?

Yup, the EVGA PSUs have labels of which cable to plug in on each connector, and most cables you'll figure out because they're matching shapes. The CPU connector will look like two 4 pin connectors that go together, and the GPU connectors will come as a 6 pin and a 2 pin. Storage drives use these flat connectors with a little L shape (those are SATA), fans connect to fan connectors in your motherboard, RAM goes in RAM slots (make sure you plug them into every other slot), the graphics card goes in one of the long slots below the CPU.

This guide should give you a good idea of how the PC building process goes.

Yup I think I watched that video the other night I'm mainly looking for fans usb and such. And as Linus has mentioned to set up the system out of box first. What am I putting into the mobo? Is it literally everything except case fans? And am I just looking to make sure the screen says that it found all the parts I have plugged in?

You should definitely test as many things as you can with the motherboard outside (you can connect your case fans to the motherboard and just leave them in the table, just to see if they all spin). Then once you've made sure you can enter your BIOS put the motherboard without graphics into the case and then connect everything else. The Mastercase Pro 5 should provide a simple building experience, pop the Power Supply on the bottom and run the cables through the back :)

I agree on the build but there's no reason to get a WD Black and the CS1311 isn't a great SSD. I'd go 1TB WDBlue and 250 / 500GB 850 EVO.

The WD BLACK is a better preforming HDD than the WD Blue. It fit in the budget and yes the SSD could be better.

The thing is, for the same price you can get a 500GB SSD. It's really not a good value except for people who want to set up a RAID.
