Hi Guys! my Graphite 600T is a bit aging, and moreover I'm wanting something new on my desk. At first I thought of buying a Phanteks case, since they are simply gorgeous to look at, and can be made silent with aircooling.

Aircooling it will be, since watercooling is not an option for me ($$$$). After some internet sessions and spending some time in solidworks I managed to make a small sketch about me making my own case, built in a desk.

well, built in the desk, more on the side of the desk.

Some requirements of the case, regarding the components inside:

-it has to support High air cooler (175mm)

-lots of cooling (because more is better)

-houses my components:

i5-3570K

MSI Z77Mpower

Asus 7970 Matrix Platinum

Phanteks TC14PE

3x 5.25" Silentmaxx harddisk enclosures (with drives, duh)

2x 2.5"SSD

Corsair AX760 PSU

see the sketch in the attachment, where there will be a window in the panel on the upper side.

some issues:

- how to make a motherboard tray? (I thought of having a motherboard plate, making the cables go around it like a double layered style floor.

I planned on making it out of wood

do you have any tips/tricks or issues you want to share? thanks!

Making a tray is easy (especially from wood as it's non conductive), Just copy the measurements for mount points from your current case.. I would think about a board which would mount to 2 runners with space in the back for cable management and a few notches near where you need access for power and sata etc. You can use standoffs if you wanted too. or not.. whatever. it's wood and won't short the board.

I don'T PreSS caPs.. I juST Hit THe keYboARd so HarD iT CriTs :P

I'm mainly concerned about how to keep the graphics card up, since it is quite aheavy card

Just make sure the back of the board (vertical) has enough strength to screw into it and is the right height for the bracket. Yo may have to go for something either with 2 pieces stuck together to give you the ledge at the top of the bracket. or a groove cut into the board.
