Wired or Wifi?

I'm building a new pc and my options for internet are running a long wire all the way underneath my house or getting an mpcie wifi card.  

I was wondering if there was any real disadvantage to the wifi card and if not then what is a good card to get?

A cable will be reliable and you will get full possible speed, but if it's a lot of work in terms of wiring, wireless solutions aren't too bad these days if the distance isn't too much.

distance is under 50 ft and there are a good amount of walls between the router and where the pc will be. wiring is probably 30 min or so running a wire under my house and up through the floor.

wired is ALWAYS better but wireless is more convenient in some cases...wired if you can get it done of course. I Have wifi at my place but never ever use it...chose to run wires everywhere for speed and consistency.

well,do you have any device that supports wifi or something? if not and only a desktop,then wired is good as you only have a desktop and no laptop or mobile.(am i right? )wifi is only usefull when you have a device which supports it,like a laptop or a mobile with wifi support. now-a-days even tablets come with wifi support! and i use wifi,it's good for wireless networking.well i don't use a repeater though!

Wire is always the best. Low latency, higher speeds (good if you have a NAS or fast internet connection) and more stable.

actually i bought a 10m cat 6e from maplin which goes across my lounge (spare pc used by friends for lan partys) and then saw the light and bought 60m of cat5e with ends for like £5 on the bay, just need to get a crimper and i can relocate my server to the closet.  B)

Ok I'm getting a bit confused now. i have those laptops and things using a wireless router and a crappy pc and an xbox pluged in through cables. I'm new to all this networking stuff. can someone please hep clarify this all for me.

i would say get some cat 6e off the bay and learn by doing, you'll need a RJ45 crimping tool and watch the video on home networking by thisoldnerd (youtube) thats where i learned it.
