So im down to choosing my motherboard, and im thinking about getting the ODroid-C2 for $40USD, but im wondering, would the micro otg port be able to power the device like the raspberry pi (so basically an android 2.0 charger), or would i need to buy a power plug for the 5v/2A adapter on the odroid?

Thats the Odroid-C2 link

Below are the images of both motherboards, and the USB 2.0 charger, and micro otg are on the left side in about the same place next to a mounting hole. Would the odroid one be able to power the device?

I think i understand? If you want to power the ODROID with a microUSB cable (like the RPi or an android phone)

Quote
Micro USB OTG port You can use the standard micro-USB connector with Linux Gadget drivers on your host PC, which means that the resources in the ODROID-C2 can be shared with typical PCs.
You can also add a micro-USB to HOST connector if you need an additional USB host port.
Note that this port can be used for power input if you install a jumper near the HDMI connector.

You will still need a 5V/2A usb charger as reccomended. (http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=en:c2_hardware)

The jumper the quote is refering to is (I believe) the "OTG Power enable jumper" between the Micro USB port and the HDMI port.

A link to one of the jumper connectors you would use.

No, these single board computers are not designed to power anything except peripherals. You will need dedicated power source for both boards.

little off topic, but thats what im asking. if the micro USB power connecter from an android phone (or my raspberry pi) would be able to power this device, or would i have to buy a new one?

No, you would not be able to power the odroid at all. At least not without frying the power rails or if you're lucky, only the fuse. You will have to buy a new one.

The Internet is invented by cats. Why? Why else would it have so much cat videos?
