hi guys I'm wanting to build a pc for photo editing i have a sandy bridge I5 2500k with a r9 290 but I'm looking to upgrade to a NVidia 1070 and ive got my r9 290 for sale for $300 but I'm accepting other offers and i need to know what i need to know what parts and stuff i would need to build a photo editing rig. thanks for all the help its greatly appreciated

We'll need to know a budget. Are you going to be gaming also?
 

$300 USD is pretty high for a used R9 290...

Depends. Are you going to be frequently video editing? I doubt you could fit in a GTX 1070 and a X99 rig in a $1000 budget. You'd be looking at $1300 with everything. Perhaps $1250 if you can reuse your storage.

 

If I were you, I'd go for a Xeon 1231 v3 which basically a i7 4770 without the iGPU. Contains hyperthreading which would be extremely beneficial for video editing. You'd be within your $1000 budget:
