hi guys I have a sandy bridge 2500k with a xfx r9 290 and when I'm playing gta 5 all graphic settings at normal and my FPS goes from 60 all the way to 30fps is this normal for a gpu to do this and it will fluctuate from 30 to 60 and back down to 30 fps again and it will stay at 30 FPS any help would be greatly appreciated thanks again.

no it should just not spin the fans at idle. Im guessing you have a airflow problem in your case or the card is dirty. Its also possible the fan profile might have become corrupted as ive seen mine go all over the place at times after failed overclocks or any sort of loss of power while overclocking the gpus. download or open up the program GPU-Z and click the sensor page then leave it open. fire up GTA V and play for a few minutes then send a screen shot of what the readings look like. You temp shouldnt be going above 90C and your memory clocks should stay fixed at the turbo setting.
