thanks that something to think about couple "near" me, that something to think about thanks

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/CppK8K , im purchasing the i5 6500 and the mobo at a micro center in ny, thanks man

I am new at the buisness of building my own desktops and have been doing a lot of research before making my first build, and am on a budget. A lot of the videos i have been seeing are very informative but i have found it really hard to find simple information like is the i5 really better than a similarly priced amd card if i am planning on doing some small amounts of gaming, internet surfing and mainly typing documents and 3d rendering/using photoshop. what i also havent been able to find is much information on whether or not higher performance graphics cards are really worth it if i am planning on playing games like CS:GO and whether or not i should go for a higher end CPU and a low end or no GPU verses the middle of each

Any help and tips would be much appreciated

SIncerely,

     confused and asking for help

If you want the ability to upgrade I'd looked for a i5-6500, AsRock Z170 Pro4 to flash a older bios to it and BCLK over lock your CPU, 8GBs of RAM, get the RX 480 when it comes out in 19 days, a cheap XFX or SeaSonic PSU or EVGA B2, a case you like, such as a NZXT S340, use stock cooler or a BeQuiet! PURE ROCK, if recording get a 2TB HDD and a 120GB SSD for a boot drive. On mobile so no pcpp for me.

i7-6700k  Cooling: Deepcool Captain 240EX White GPU: GTX 1080Ti EVGA FTW3 Mobo: AsRock Z170 Extreme4 Case: Phanteks P400s TG Special Black/White PSU: EVGA 850w GQ Ram: 64GB (3200Mhz 16x4 Corsair Vengeance RGB) Storage 1x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 240GBSandisk SSDPlus, 480GB OCZ Trion 150, 1TB Crucial NVMe
(Rest of Specs on Profile)

moved to new build planning

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

so far i have been moving in the direction of an i5 4460... is it safe to assume that along the intel lines, assuming specs match up i can safely change processors?

If you want future upgrades I'd go for a i5-6400/6500

No.

Haswell and Broadwell cpu's (4000 series - 5000 series) use cpu socket 1150, while skylake cpu's (6000 series) use cpu socket 1151. The two sockets are not interchangeable and require different motherboards.
