Ethernet Issues

I recently started using ethernet over wifi on my laptop, but a lot of times, it will say I'm connected, yet I don't have internet. My wifi will do this occasionally but not nearly as often as ethernet and as far as I know nobody else in my house has this problem. I am a networking noob so help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Does it say limited?

No it either has the little triangle saying no internet connection or it shows that it is fine.

Then it must be something to do with your own PC? Have you installed any ethernet drivers?

yea i have uninstalled and reinstalled several times

Check if you're getting an IP address. Open command prompt and type ipconfig /all

well now it is not even registering the ethernet cable

i have just built my first computer and the ethernet dosen work, so i am kinda stuck

I'm such an idiot. I thought I had updated my drivers but I did not, I had merely just reinstalled them. Well now it is working.
