I have just come across an annoying issue. Chrome does not go back a page when pressing the backspace key instead it pops up saying I have to use Alt + Left arrow.

Has Google Chrome removed the backspace key keybinding for navigating back to the previous page in a recent update?

I am used to using the backspace key for going back a page, Googles help page for shortcuts still states you can use the backspace key.

I tried searching chromes settings for mapping keys but there does not appear to be any. Anyone come across this issue before or know of a fix?

Yes they removed it because apparently too many people were hitting it by accident while typing. Frankly I'm not sure how, since in a textbox it doesn't actually go back, but whatever.

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I had it do it to me all the freaking time and it was the most annoying thing, resorted to copying everything every time I had to delete anything or writing in notepad and copy/pasting it.

Hm, that's strange.  I've never had that happen ever on any browser.  You're sure the focus was on the textbox (the typing cursor (line) was blinking in the textbox)?

It happens to me occasionally when I accidentally click off of a text box by accident.

I didn't even think anyone wanted that shortcut!

To be honest, I just use my mouse's back and forward buttons anyway.

Yeah, actively typing like I am right here, if I were to hit backspace there was a good chance it would treat it as a shortcut and everything I typed would be gone

Oh I see Google has given in to the complainers :P.

Must admit I have typed a reply into a textbox only for chrome to go back to the previous page when pressing backspace. Luckily when I pressed the forward button what i had typed was restored into the textbox.

That's so strange... I wonder what is causing it?  I guess Google gave up trying to find out and just disabled the thing so I'm not going to try and guess! xD

I on occasion start typing and only realize that the text field isn't focused until I press backspace, but that's probably my fault for using the tab key to get to the first text field because I'm used to doing it on a few sites that I use often.

Tip to those that are new on LTT forum- quote a post so that the person you are quoting gets a notification, otherwise they'll have no idea that you did. You can also use a tag such as @Ryoutarou97 (replace my username with anyone's. You should get a dropdown after you type the "@")to send a notification, but quoting is preferable.

Feel free to PM me about absolutely anything be it tech, math, literature, etc. I'll try my best to help. I'm currently looking for a cheap used build for around $25 to set up as a home server if anyone is selling.

If you are a native speaker please use proper English if you can. Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling are as important to making your message readable as proper night theme formatting is.

My build is fully operational, but won't be posted until after I get a GPU in it and the case arted up.

probably some of feature that is misread and rather than fix the core issue they remove the shortcut. Cant say I blame them cost of moving back to alt+left is much less then countless hours of trying to find out why.

have had this happen ti me a few times. Super annoying.
