First off, let me apologize if this isn't the right area. I figured Tech Support cause that's technically what I need.

Hey guys,

I have a project here at work to try to figure out how to create a thin client environment using one of our HP Workstations, and HP Thin Clients. The workstation specs are coming soon, along with the thin client. My question is this: Would I be able to create an image on the workstation, have the thin client PXE boot to the workstation, use the image, but none of the workstation's resources minus the storage? My thought process is kinda like having a RAM Disk in that every time the thin client is shut off, the image is refreshed on their end, but never truly touched on the workstation side.

Sorry for the lack of specs, this was just handed to me as an experiment, and I want to see if my idea is plausible. Thanks!

Normally the thin client is a remote desktop client and no processing is done on the thin client its self. It would all be done on the server in a vm.

So, you basically want to use the work station as a network boot with a bunch of live images that the thin clients boot fresh from each time with no saved work?

Well, yes you can do that, the only resources that would be used on the workstation is enough cpu/ram to move the files/data.

However. thin clients are weak, and as @Electronics Wizardy said you normally boot into a native and very light OS then vpn or rdp into a vm or workstation.
