im trying to keep total cost low, so i would say $175, $200 absolute max.

If you're not in a hurry wait for the RX480 it's gonna cost around 200$ and is rumored to perform between a 390x and an r9 fury

I would wait for reviews before outright purchasing an RX 480.

Do you really think it will be rivaled at the $200 price point?

Do you automatically think it'll be a good card? Or do you think there's a chance it could be terrible?

Wait for reviews. Always.

This is the most powerful card for around 200$ i can find online NEW...unless you want to either wait for RX480 to show up or scan the used market...this is it right here:

I have enough faith in AMD to know it will be atany card at the sub $200 price point at the time of release, i wouldn't even mind pre ordering one

I have lost faith in AMD - their marketing in particular. I have no desire to tell people straight up to buy a certain card with their money unless reviews are out and it's objectively a good product.

I would suggest a card with a built in hardware H.265 encoder.  I know the GTX 960 has that, not sure about other cards, but worth researching.

firstly: thank you guys for your responses, i did not think this thread would go quite like it did overnight, wow. secondly, i have no real bias here as to what brand i go with, ive used both sides over the past several years, and had good results. lastly: as some have put forward, i do not mind wait for a bit to see what comes down the line, the graphics card in this project might well be the last part i handle, i just wanted to get a feel for what might be out there based on wanting a card that eats less, the 275 can draw something between 250 and 300 WATTS based on what ive found so far, if anyone has better data on that , please let me know.
