Ok so i have just gotten into Linux so im a bit of a noob but i want to learn it more. I have been having a lot of strangeness with CS:GO with my LAN PC thats running Linux Mint, its had really strange FPS problems and mainly incosistant framerates and now it just froze and i needed to restart the PC. I have been getting framerates differing from 120 fps to 5 fps as i have been playing around with the settings. it started off running at 55 fps avrage with dips bellow 30 sometimes and some slight freezes, that was at 1280x1024 high settings with 4xmsaa so i dropped down to high/medium 4xmsaa and got around 100 fps average with lowest going just bellow 75 fps and then i turned the system off, did some stuff and came back later and now i only got 5-15 fps on those settings. so i dropped down to low settings with 2xmsaa and i was back at that nice 100 fps again, although it didnt look the best it was still fine for just some CS:GO IMO. so i wanted to see how the system preformed at 1080p so i got out my main monitor and it ran at 5fps with everything as low as it went, which isnt that surprising but then i swapped back the display and no matter what i did with the settings i could not get above 10 fps. so i restarted CS:GO again(i shut it down when switching displays) and now i was getting better FPS. at this point i was suspecting thermal throtteling because the GPU seemed hot enough to cook up some bacon so i turned around one of the fanns and added some ventilation and temps went down and everything seemed fine untill i got in a game and i was only getting 5-15 fps again. this was an online match of casual but i had played some casual before at this resolution and these better settings and gotten 100 fps avrage, al be it that was on Dust and this game on Asullt but maps never make THAT big of a differance in FPS and this was even on lower settings, so i played around some more with them and somehow got it playable again but after just a while it just froze up and refused to do anything, no sound or anything. just a frozen picture of what had happaned just before it froze. i could tab out but couldent do much once i was tabbed out because i didnt see my mouse and couldent type anything in the home menue for some reason. here are my specs:

TL;DR:

CS:GO is inconsistant with its framerates at the same settings, extremely 100 fps avrage -> 10 fps avrage from time to time and now froze up and im not sure whats the problem. im a slight Linux noob but i can follow instructions if you know a fix.

Im really not sure whats causing this problem and its super annoying seeing as CS:GO is litterally the only game i will be playing on it and if its not working for some reason that would be really bad for me. Thanks for any help and any replies :D

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...
