Processor for Minecraft Server

Is the Pentium E5400 2.7GHz Dual-Core capable of running a Minecraft server for me and two friends with a few mods?

I will probably have between 4-8GB's of ram. Would it work well without a graphics card also?

Yeah, it should be fine using just that. I've tested running a Minecraft Server inside a virtual machine with 1 core @2.6 Ghz and 512MB's of RAM and it was fine for the most part, so a dual core CPU with 4-8GB's of RAM will be fine, so long as you're not also playing on that PC.

Not true, the E5400 has an IGPU so he could hook it up to a monitor, you just don't need a dedicated GPU.

I believe it has an iGPU. My own PC (which I'm soon dumping) has a Pentium E5700 3GHz processor which does have one (that I don't use), but I was wondering if it could deliver satisfactory performance on its own.

 

Also my new pc will use the 4690k, 16gb ram and a gtx970 or better.

It's EXTREMELY cheap in a nearby shop, selling for 3 euro, so yeah. And the game lag is unbearable.

Good luck getting all that for under 100 euro. Your best bet would be to walk around town and try to find deals.
