Ok, so i bought a system that had a dead mobo, was really cheap and i already found a replacement board online, but when i was cleaning it, i saw that the BIOS chip was missing. Ringed up the seller and he said he didn't try replacing it or anything, nor did anyone else. That means it somehow got loose and then fell down and got lost.

I know i can just buy a chip with the BIOS online for like 5€, but i have a few dead mobos at home with these type of chips and i was wondering, can i take one of those chips out, flash it on a flashing station and then pop it in and it will work, or are those chips specialized?

EDIT: mobo in question: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/F1A75M_LE/

the chip might be brand focused (different bios) but its worth a try i guess

I'm guessing it needs atleast these things and might be good to go:

  • 32 Mb Flash ROM, AMI BIOS, PnP, DMI v2.0, WfM2.0, SM BIOS V2.6, ACPI V2.0a
  •
