Hi. I am looking at watercooling the cpu on my main gaming pc though not sure what pump to get. The main reason i want to watercool is for sillence. I have a spare pc which is watercooled at the moment which i will be using most of the cooling parts from. I am going to be using  a EK block and 240mm rad though the pump I have in that system is really loud. Not sure what brand it is I got it second hand of ebay. Can someone recommend a pump that will perform well though still be really quite?

Thanks

Get a Laing Pump. Laing DDC and D5 are your two options. The DDC is typically cheaper, smaller, louder, runs hotter and performs slightly worse but still works really well.

Just looking at pumps and there seem to be D5 pumps from a few different manufacturers, are they all the same just rebranded? Sorry Im very new to watercooling

Literally have different stickers on them.

Some have extra features such as a tachometer or PWM in more expensive ones but they will be listed.

Yeah, probably because you probably haven't heard the silence of the D5.

if space in the build allows the D5, i'd deffo recommend using it over the DDC. but

when space is an issue, your only alternative is the DDC.

cost wise a DDC over a D5 initially is less expensive, but i'd found that buying the

extra heat sink (and optional fan) can really tilt the cost about equal. the DDC does

run a bit warmer than the D5 and failure of the pump from it can happen (personal

experience). the DDC can be louder in running, but also depends on mounting,

options and skills to keep them as quiet as D5 pumps. D5 pumps are loud from two

points; air in system and non-isolation of mount.

So much this.

D5,particularly the D5s with a 24v controller,is all the pump you will ever need.
