I've been using my Astro A40's for 4 wonderful years, and honestly I could keep using them if I wasn't a little picky. The headset it super comfortable, has great sound, and plugs right in to the Mixamp pro it came with. But after 4 years, the headset is a little beaten. Nothing major, just your regular wear and tear, and also I can tell the sound is a little louder on the right side which, I can only assume, means the drivers are a bit worn out on the left side. So I'm looking to get a new head set that I can just plug in to my mixamp pro with a regular 3.5mm jack.

I will continue to use my mixamp pro, so I just need the headset. Also I want the headphones to be 7.1 surround sound compatible and also I want the headset to be detachable from any cables so not physically connecting cords that you can't remove.

Any suggestions?

Surround sound for headphone/headset is a marketing gimmick.

I used Astro A40 with MixAmp for a very long time, and as a person who has ditched that series I can tell you that the surround sound is a marketing gimmick.

You are better off looking for a good stereo headphone/headset.

Also, you might want to clarify your budget.
