Upgrading

Go to solution Solved by Asses_Of_Fire,

yes your i7 4790 and 16gb ram and 600w is enough to push  a 1070-1080 no problems. it would perform excellent. the 4790 (non k) is still extreme overkill for gaming.

Ok, the thing is.

I "made" my first rig like 1 year ago, and I have had really good times with it. I managed to get all the components for my rig and I even got the OS included with my SSD, all for less than 1300 USD (I'm form Mexico, it is really hard to find good and cheap components down here)

So I introduce you to my rigs components:

Intel i7 4790(not the k) @3.6 GHz and 4GHz max speed (cant get a bit more yet :( )

Gigabyte H97-Gaming 3

16 GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 @ 3600 MHz (2 x 8GB pack)

Gigabyte GTX 950 90mm OC

AeroCool KCAS 600W 80 Plus Bronze (like my league account)

For my cooling i got a reeeeeaaally good deal at Amazon for a Thermaltake WATER 3.0 Extreme S that gets the job done.

Also while browsing searching for the cooler i found a deal on the monitor getting a Monoprice CrystalPro 28'' 4k @60hz monitor that i think is the best thing i could get for the price i found it.

Now, with the new generation of NVIDIA gpu's available at a "consumers price" i thought about upgrading my graphics card but the 1070 and 1080 will be a big jump from my little 950 to that. And I'm afraid my system won't perform that well. So my question is:

What do you think i can or must upgrade in order to get the 1070 or 1080 performing in the most decent way without throwing my bank account through the window.

Hope you can give me your advice. thanks.

Your system seems fine to me. Maybe a better quality PSU so you can really get to town with the OCs on the new GPU.

240mm AiO for a locked chip o.O anyways, whats the main uses of your system

I know the 240 mm is a lot for that cpu but i only had the stock heat sink and for the price i got that AiO it was a really great deal. I mainly play and do programming and design every now and then.
