So I am in a fix and this is keeping me from going and buying new CPU . So I am a budget builder so every penny saved is a lot. I have 2 options-
1. i5-6402p with a Gigabyte H170 D3H mobo and avexir core green 8gb ddr4 single stick ram
2. i5-6500 with a Gigabyte g1.sniper b7 and avexir core green 8gb ddr4 single stick ram.

So the situation is budget is giving me 2 options, which are either a weaker cpu with a better h170 board or better cpu with a 1 tier lower motherboard a b150.
I don't need RAID feature from H170 but does the XMP profile help me to a 2400mhz ram on a board which supports 2133 by default.?

Please help, I will take my final decision based on the community's reply so please give me the best value for money option. Thank you in advance.

H110 comes to the rescue, if you really need to save the cash. An i5 6400 is also a very valid option.

Buddy I thought we already worked this all out! xD

So far as I'm aware, you cannot overclock memory on the H170 or B150 boards. You need a Z or X series in order to do that (such as Z170 or X99).

You should definitely funnel your money towards the better CPU and B150. You will get better performance out of that combo simply because you have a better CPU.

well yes I remember you and cant thank you enough for your extensive help. still you know being a budget builder we have to think a lot before making it final. So I saw on msi h170 board that it supports XMP thus made me to have second thoughts. Well I guess I should go with your final advise

i will go with i5 6500 + Gigabyte g1.sniper b7 . I don't think there will be a noticeable difference between 2133 and 2400 & i will go with a better CPU not with a faster ram. Plus Gigabyte g1.sniper b7 looks good, means you can showoff you rig.

I am also using i5 6500, asus b150 pro gaming aura & G skill ripsaws 5 2400 ( running at 2133 ).

Since you are not getting a "K" processor, I'd go with the better i5-6500 and any B150, H110, or H170 based motherboard that has the features you want and not worry about the RAM speed.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

Yes I guess I'll go with g1 sniper. One thing I read right now its written that b150 wont support turbo boost, well that cant be true when it supports 6th CPUs then it should support turbo boost.
