Home CPU help

So I am trying to decide which is better to go with. FX 8320 (or 8350) or the Pentium G3258. I will actually save more by going with Intel but I am not sure if it will fit my needs. This will be for home use/light file server. I will use it to not only to store files but to use as my daily driver. I use word processing, youtube/web surfing, some very light gaming (nothing taxing even for a non gaming laptop), and moving files between drives and two computers. When I use my pc (right now it is a Thinkpad T510) I always have lots of web browser tabs open, Word, Excel, and more open all at once.

My budget right now is $400 MAX!!! The AMD build will be more expensive than the Intel, but I already have an AMD MB. I have ram laying around as well. The Pentium build will cost me about $325 with tax, and the AMD will cost about $390 with a low end GPU. I could sell the AMD board afterwards to help make the Intel cheaper. Will the multi core AMD be better for my needs or the Intel? I can upgrade the Intel CPU after a year or two. I am staying with 1150 or AM2/3+ socket since I will be using Win 7 as my OS. I know AMD is not very strong in single core performance, but I would think with the work load I usually have, it shouldn't be too much for the FX CPU.
