Custom Computer Desk

Bangflop

So I am currently in the process of building my own desk for my whole setup and I was just wondering what you guys thing and if I should add anything else to the desk itself. I decided to do this so that I can make something to fit just my needs. I don't really use drawers at all so I won't be adding those and I need something in the future, I will make a file cabinet type thing.

I will be adding a cable management channel to the backside of the desk so that I don't have any wires hanging down. You can find the amazon link here.

I will also be adding a USB Hub and a power strip to the underside of the desk to make things a bit more clean coming out of it as well.

So do you guys think I should add anything else and what do you guys think of it so far?

As always, thanks for the help :D

Unless your just doing it for design I wouldn't put so many legs, and instead have a thicker top say 1-2" so it doesn't easily sag as that is over a 6ft span.

The amount of legs is just there as kind of a place holder atm because I don't know how steady this will be and I have a 2X4 reinforced by a 6' steel angle down the middle.

But yeah, I will probably not be getting that many legs.

I will also be painting it black and the legs are going to be black as well. Instead of making them out of wood I will be buying these from IKEA .

Looks pretty sweet man. Just a quick question are the 3 grommets for flexibility or will you be using them all. Just i've always preferred a desk with just the one. Either way awesome project to have look forward to seeing the finished product!

Yeah those would work, only thing was with the thin material is the front as that is mainly unsupported still and can potentially sag, something like a thick solid top if your looking at stuff from Ikea would work well:

lol well one problem with that... I already bought the top. Honestly, I'm not to worried about it. If I see that it is going to be a little week, I will add some support to it.

For sure. Once everything is all said and done, I will be making a post on here with the full updates and the steps I went through to get it all done.

And yeah, the 3 grommets are for flexibility to so that I will always have a close hole to put wires into so I won't have to see a wire stretched across the top of my desk.
