Should fit just fine, am3 is backwards compatible with am2+. Why would you want an x4 820 though?

I plan to get a AMD Phenom II x4 820 cpu. It has a AM3 socket. Im wondering if it will fit in my AM2+ motherboard (pegatron narra5). And if it does fit, will there be any problems?

How cheap are you getting this CPU?

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The AMD Phenom II x4 820 is 40 bucks on ebay. But I plan to spend up to 80 on a good cpu that is compatible with my motherboard because I don't want to buy a new one.

I'd suggest you just save your money for an AM4 APU based system whenever that comes out soon

Although what GPU do you have? is just motherboard integrated?

Sadly yes, i use an integrated gpu. I was going to buy a new graphics card after I get my new cpu.

Ya, naw man just wait for the new APU stuff for like 60 bucks in the meantime you could get an AM1 based system which isn't horrible for older games anyways, then you get a new platform, with an upgrade path to zen, and like much more usable integrated graphics, DDR4 should do wonder for an APU

If your PSU has standard connectors you can reuse most everything

5350 iGPU benchmarks, drop it to 720p and you're hitting 30fps in some AAA games which is fairly playable anyways

Here's the last gen benchmarks, and those were already pretty capable for light 1080p or heavy 720p gaming, so the AM4 stuff should be at least 20-30% faster

The CPU is AM3, the motherboard is AM2+

You can place am3 cpus inside am2+ motherboards.
