Computer not turning on

My computer is not turning on at all- nothing happens when I push the button. I did try testing the psu by shorting it out with a fan attached and it worked fin. I also reseated all the power cables and tried the reset sw on the power sw pins and it was a no go. I also tried shorting the power sw pins with a screwdriver. I do not know how to proceed- I think its the most likely motherboard but it could be the screwdriver was not conductive enough or something. Both mobo and psu have bad reliability apparently. Any help would be welcome.

Could be the motherboard or the CPU. Only way to find out is by trying the PSU with another system or trying another motherboard/CPU.

So a bad cpu can prevent a computer from showing any reaction at all when the power button is pressed? No bios/boot looping yes; but no reaction I didn't.
