Hello

So I currently have a Blackberry Q10 paired with a 5th gen iPod touch. Now I'm looking at getting a phone, not to expensive. What I want is everything I can do right now + a not to bad camera, but nothing extreme. Just want to be able tot ake nice 1080p pictures. Max budget 500$.

Currently this is what I found and I'm interested in. If anyone has other suggestions please post them.

I really don't know that phone company, I would advise to stay away and get a phone from a more reputable brand.

Hmmm I think I'l get a Galaxy S7. It's 800$

I made the mistake of going with midrange phones.  You don't want to skimp on hardware.  These are typically long term investments.  The HTC10 is cheaper by 100 (if they are still offering the code).  You might be interested in the Huawei P9 as well; maybe even a Nexus 6P.

I ended up getting the S7 myself.  Pretty good phone.

Yeah but damn it hurts me to buy a phone for 800$ when I see Blu phone is 200$... I can get 4 Blu phones if any go bad! Ha ha.

But I'm worried, I'm looking on amazon for the S7 and it says no warranty? What the hell. I'm paying 800$ for a phone if it breaks I better get covered.

Yeah, I hear you.  And we Canadians don't get the nice deals as the Americans.

Lock yourself with Telus or Bell?  Trade in your old phone?

Phones are much cheaper in the states, and you can find more older phones (say a Pansonic dmc-cm1) for dirt cheap.  When I was looking for a new phone, they had one going for 300 USD (compared to 1200 CAD).

OnePlus 2 plus the OnePlus 3 on the horizon might be something else to look into.

But why is there no warranty?

There's probably no warranty because for that particular phone it's possible that the warranty is honored elsewhere. In terms of the phone, is there anything specific you want? Are you geared towards having a large screen? Are optics important? performance? Battery life? Design? (Plastic vs Metal).
