I like this build,  not sure how I feel about a 960 but I dont think I would have use for anything more so I guess its alright.

Why did no one recomend a Xeon and everyone is pointing in the direction of i7s?

im not really sure how to part that thing out. but it looks really cool.  is it a good deal or a crap deal, I cant tell.  its what I Was looking at earlier today when I made this post (the pre built I mentioned)

Scratch that whole "you can build it for less thing"! A SINGLE one of those Xeons is over the price of that prebuilt computer!

That's a refurbished system so it's clearly being sold at a huge loss.

OP should note that many of these components are last gen; its worth considering i7 68/9XX CPUs and an RX 480 in place of the 390 (faster and cheaper)  RX 480 is due mid june so I'd say its worth the wait

The i7-6800K is not a good value compared to the 5820K. $60 more dollars for ~5% IPC improvements.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Haswell Xeon have a pretty decent price point and can use the same motherboards as the same socket i3/i5/i7. Skylake Xeon on the other hand require a different chip set. The motherboards are a touch more expensive. Although that is starting to change.

GPU is a tough call in this build. Photo and video editing software can often use the gpu to accelerate rendering and other functions. But budget sort of gets in the way.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
