Xbox charging Cable

So i recently sold my xbox to my brother and im trying to use the xbox controller to play some games. When I plug the cable into the pc and plug the cable into the controller the led flashes for less than a second then turns off. Therefore I cannot connect my controller to my pc. Has this happened to anyone else and if so are there any fixes to it.

You can use xbox one wireless controllers with a usb cable on your pc, but not the 360 ones. For 360 controllers you need either the hardwired version or a wireless receiver for your pc.

Thats what I tried but the charger I had for the controller seems to have broken since my brother has used it

Try another cable. It is just a regular micro usb. (if it is the bulky old one, it wont work, because it doesn't have the functionality)

Are you sure? Most smartphones come with a charger that has a separate usb cable.
