I just recently found a video about dirt cheap xeon processors like the one linus did. Basically this is a newer processor and runs closer to the i7-5690k in some applications. This was done with just one xeon e5-2670. I plan on using two of them in my build. I also plan on adding two of the r9-480's when they come out. I'm basically posting this thread because of the server motherboard the cost comes out to about 900 USD without tax. Is this build at all cost efficient and also does this motherboard fit into an atx case. There is a screenshot attached. I already have the psu and a hard drive and a r9 280 for now until I get the money to buy 2 r9 480's.

you will need a way bigger case

With a little modding (and missing off some standoffs) It would be fine.

Also if anyone could point me to a cheaper motherboard that would be cool.

I think you might need ECC memory on that motherboard, although I'm not sure about that.

Why would I need way more ram. I'm just going for a build able to run Arma 3 more efficiently and some other games and maybe small time video editing and photo editing.

Not more ram, different ram. Some of those xeons and mobos. only work with ECC ram.

You might get a better pc for a similar price if you went with a skylake build, those parts will be had to troubleshoot if something goes sideways.

Something like this would be a lot more practical and not cost much more money from the prices in you photos. It would also be easier to upgrade/resell in the future.

Thanks I think I like that idea better right now. I don't really need a new graphics card right away anyways and honestly looking into my past build it would not be worth the hassle.

Okay, let us dive in into that topic a bit, so if u use 16gb of ram on 2 8gb sticks ( it should be ecc or you have to check the mb manual if it works with normal, and you have to be super careful wich exakt ram it supports, not only ddr 3/4 but really the exact name of the sticks) and you have 2 processors installed, each processor would effectively have only 8gb, most games can´t handle 2 processors, so only one will be used, and so you have only 8gb for a game (if the second processor isn´t used the ram of it is also not workin with the other one, bc it is only linked to the one processor) so i would recommend at least 32gb of ram on 4 8gb sticks, and you can buy really cheap 2133mhz if it supports non ecc, bc the processors will not work with higher frequencies. but it should go with 16 also.

EDIT: Coming back to the game topic, mostly only the cpu on wich the gpu is installed works.
