So, I’m planning on building my first PC in the coming weeks and I’d like to get some opinions on where to go with some things, and advice on the best ways to do things. I want the PC to last for at least 5 years and still be capable, and for it to be able to do some light 1080p gaming (mainly offline) as well as normal everyday tasks. I already have a capable 1080p monitor. I’d also like my build to be at least somewhat upgradeable in the future. I’m planning on spending around £600-£800 (850-1150 USD), and want to know if everything will (in theory) go to plan with what I’m thinking of doing. Any help would really be appreciated!

Firstly, the hardware – is all of the following compatible in a system?

Case:  Corsair CC-9011079-WW Carbide Series 600C Clear Windowed ATX Inverse Computer Case - Black (As I like the look of a windowed case, and with the window on this side it is perfect for my setup – it also comes with 3 fans)

Motherboard: ASUS Z170-A LGA1151 Motherboard

CPU: Intel Skylake i5-6600 (as I don’t plan to do any overclocking, and this comes with a heat sink)

GPU: Undecided, possibly a GTX 960 but I may wait to see what AMD reveals over the coming weeks.

RAM: HyperX Fury 2x8GB DDR4 2400MHz

PSU: Be Quiet! System Power 8 500W 80 Plus (However I’m unsure what to look for in a Power Supply, so although I think it’s enough power for my system, I don’t know if it has all the correct cables)

Drives: HyperX Fury 240GB SATA III SSD (for the OS and most used applications)

And possibly a 1TB HDD in the future for other files, but can they be easily installed into a working rig? Is it just plug and play? Or do you have to do something in your OS to make it appear and be useable?

Is there anything else I need or you recommend? I have an Ethernet cable, will that be okay for internet? And are there any other parts my PC would benefit greatly from?

Now, Software:

I plan to install Windows 10 on my PC. What is the best way to do this? Should I buy it on a memory stick to plug into my PC; can I install the OS that way? Or should I get an optical drive bay?

When the OS has installed, how will the PC be at that point? What drivers will I need for everything to work properly? And is it just as simple as downloading and installing each driver for each necessary component?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Wait for the 480s and you will need to get hold of a key (buy) one way or another for windows and just install windows off an memory stick

Thanks mate :)

Do you know about putting extra drives into a system? What would you do for that?
