Currently running a three year old Aspire V3 laptop and it's time to upgrade.

Looking to build a gaming pc for around $1400 CAD. The two components that I really want are a 1070 (have relatives in the states that will buy one if I send them money so I don't need to worry about the $300 markup) and from what I can see an i5 6600k will be good for my needs for quite a while.

I need help on the other components because I have no idea what's good in the low price range.

Would like to keep the cost under 1,400 but there is a little room to go higher.

Thanks for any help!

you can replace the hard drive with a 250gb ish ssd and stay around your budget

this is in usd so it leaves $340 for the gpu

edit: can also go cheaper on the case if you want

This looks great! The 1070 won't be available for a little while I guess so I'll keep my eyes on prices.

Thanks a bunch man!

Hey! I put aside $500 CAD for the 1070 and came up just over 1400. If it ends up converting to less money than that you're good.

OK, so I erased the build that was here because it's got a glaring weakness. A GTX 1070 is just way overkill for 1080p at 60Hz. So instead I'd suggest trying to get a 1440p monitor (they start at 380 CAD though) and perhaps a less powerful CPU.

This makes more sense.
