So yeah, my pc has been crashing in the middle of games a lot recently, and I have no clue what's causing it.

Specs: 4790K, Asus Vii hero, 16gb vengeace pro, gtx 780, RM650

So at first my pc would just bsod in the middle of a game with whea_uncorrectable_error code which normally happens when I have a bad oc. But after that I set my cpu and gpu to stock clocks and the problem still happened.

But then after some time the pc would just freeze in the middle of the game and a noise starts playing thorugh my headphones (where the frame gets frozen and sounds like a buzz)

then I reinstalled my GPU drivers and now it goes back and bsod's every time

I checked the temps immediately after it crashes and both the cpu and gpu temps seem to be very respectable. I have no idea why this is happening.

Please help

Could be a Windows problem. Check to see if any background tasks are hogging resources. If not you could always try a clean install.

did you disable the "extra" sound drivers yet?

Oh sorry, i forgot to reply to you. Yes I did and it crashed again.

So right now I increased my gpu fan to 100% and it seems to be fine. Why would my gpu have thermal issues all of a sudden? This hasn't been an issue before. I have a reference 780

Try downloading and running this and then reinstalling the GPU driver. http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html The program will nuke any display driver on the PC. It has worked in the past for me.

Trying that now, thanks.

So this is weird. I had the gpu fan at 100% and it was fine while in game. But i paused the game and walked away from my pc for a few minutes and it restarted by the time i was back. This also happened in other games when I was in the middle of a menu or something. The heck is going on?

This a new one.  Do you have any other problems besides random crashes?  Like does it crash when not in a game?

Nope, only when a game is running.

Also I just did a 2 hour Aida64 run and had NO ISSUES (gpu and cpu test) and the temps are actually quite good. I'm really confused now

You could try reinstalling the game(s). Fallout 4 used to crash on me all the time until I reinstalled it. Also were you able to install the drivers?

Well so far it's happened in GTA V and project Cars. And i'm confident it'd happen in any other game that shares techincal stuff with those games (directX etc.) I feel that because this problem is so bizarre, it must be an OS problem (good ol' microsoft). Is there any way I can like "repair" windows or something and keep all my data? FSX is such a whale to reinstall, like over 200gb of it :P

Yeah, I redownloaded and redid the setup process and the drivers installed properly

So as a test I took my gpu out and ran the same games and set them to run for a while.  So far no crashes.  I think the problem lies on my gpu,  which isnt bad because I have a 3 year warranty and can get it replaced.  Will update thread after testing overnight

so try uninstalling the nvidia drivers again. reboot and do a custom install. only install the graphics driver and the physx driver if you want.

try disabling any app that auto updates. this includes windows

edit: check your cpu temps. maybe clean the heatsink or take it off, reapply paste..??
