I was thinking about RMAing this panel but I wanted to get some feedback form the community before I did so to exhaust all options before the hassles of a return.

I want to love this panel, the picture is fantastic, no dead pixels very little issues with the design, but I am plagued with constant crashes and weird launch sequences that make the monitor unusable. ASUS support walked me through a calibration process just to get it to work at all (black screen on launch of any application) and now NVIDIA is looking into the strange crashes giving me "Video Driver Crashed and has Reset" issues. I feel like I might have gotten a lemon so I will wait to write a full review until I hear back from some owners here or NVIDIA to see if the behavior I am experiencing is normal for this monitor.

Launch sequence video, here I try to launch Dragon Age Inquisition, the routine is the same for any application I launch:

Once in the game it seems to work fine, but if it switches to a cut scene or long fade sometimes it repeats the action in the video, it does this with Gsync off or on.

I am a developer so my build skills are moderate and my system is more than adequate to push this display.

Issue

Constant crash to desk top: "Video Driver Crashed and reset, make sure your drivers are up to date."

This happens every 15 to 20 minutes, max time in application without crash 2 hours.

The applications will close on launch or after full launch or 15 minutes to 2 hours in.

This only happens when the Asus PG279q is installed.

Monitor set up, 3 HP w2408h running 1920 x 1200 at 60htz

This configuration works flawlessly.

I detach one of my HP w2408h monitors and replaced it with the ASUS PG279q and the crashes start immediately.

What I have tried so far.

I have used only the HDMI port both at full resolution and at 1920 x 1200, no change still crashes.

Installed with display port both at full resolution and at 1920 x 1200, no change still crashes.

Reviewed forums and uninstalled drivers and reinstalled older drivers to check stability. Specifically drivers stated to solve this very problem others have encountered, no change still crashes.

I have checked the video card, the PSU and have monitored heat levels, all in normal range.

I detach the PG279q and reattach the w2308h everything works flawlessly.

What I can not seem to understand is why I am having and issue with a monitor designed to be used with an NVIDIA card, unless this monitor is defective.

Searching the NVIDIA and ASUS sights looking for a resolution or something else to try.

Is my monitor defective? Is this a common issue? if so is there a resolution?

Please advise.

Thank you
~M
