You might want to look at the RELEASE NOTES associated with the firmware update to decide whether it brings any worthwhile features or fixes to the table.  Generally SSD firmware updates are worthwhile (unlike some BIOS updates which only resolve obscure issues that only a small subset of customers will ever face).  However, you need to be sure that you have complete backups, and can tolerate some downtime if the flash fails and renders the device inoperable.  Sometimes you will have to boot your computer to DOS, or use a special CD-ROM or USB flashing program to update a SSD's firmware.  It is sometimes not a trivial task.
