Hi, I was in LOVE with my razer deather 2013..
The way it feels when you hold, to the accuracy you get from its sensor..

But, the mouse wheel broke off, the plastic nub was torn off the wheel and several repair attempts have left it worse than when I broke it.

I replaced it when the Mamba Tourney edition but it didn't feel right, like sometimes the cursor just won't work..

From what I searched online, it's about the sensor of the mouse, apparently the deathadder's sensor is way better than the mamba..

Now, I'm not gonna buy another deathadder knowing it's mousewheel..

So do you guys have any suggestions as a replacement for the deathadder? something with the same sensor?

I'm currently eyeing the g502 from logitech, but what do you guys think?

Thank you very much, cheers!

It seems rather strange for a mouse wheel to come off. I would really suggest you try the Deathadder again, maybe check a few reviews, but I honestly can't figure why the mouse wheel would break... there's no reason for a lot of force to be on it, right?

I haven't tried this mouse, but a middle click should only take a slightly more firm press than a left or right click. At least, that's what I think the case is and should be. Did you get the mouse new or used?

I bought it brand new, I just brought it work now and macro'ed scroll up and down to the two side buttons..

I'll just buy a mouse from another brand, do you know any mouse models that have the same sensor as the deathadder?

I'm afraid not, I just wanted to give my input on how strange it was that the wheel would break. Maybe someone was messing with it, or it was dropped when you weren't by it. I just don't get why it would come off, so I don't see it happening twice. Best wishes, but I don't think I can help from here.

The Deathadder has the Avago ADNS s3988 sensor. I don't think many if any mice have the same sensor. I don't know much in this area but there's probably better sensors out now. Logitech is one of the better brands. Zowie might have something too.

My Deathadder had many problems. I RMA'd it because clicking once sometimes made it click twice. That was almost a year ago. For months since then the scroll wheel is messed up. Sometimes it scrolls in the opposite direction or skips scrolls. I've just sucked it up for now.

People seem to sing praises about the logitech 502? Do they use similar sensors? or do you know any good optical sensor mice? Thank you for your input btw.

For some reason I can't find info about what sensor it has. But even if I did, it would be hard to say if it's better and why. That's like asking which pattern on toilet paper does your ass like better. With mice sensors, the only way to compare is to test them because there doesn't seem to be any given details about the sensors other than "x performs better with acceleration and/or is more sensitive than x"

I did come across a Google Sheets which lists over 200 players setups. If you scroll to the right you can see which mice they use. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UaM765-S515ibLyPaBtMnBz7xiao0HL5f-F1zk_CSF4/edit#gid=1762004852

Since you liked the shape of the Deathadder i'm gonna recommend a few that have similar shape.

Asus ROG Gladius (S3988 sensor, which is the one the Deathadder's S3989 sensor is based on)

Zowie EC1-A (Pixart 3310 sensor, very good sensor and commonly used)

If you have big hands i would pick the EC1-A as my Asus ROG Gladius is too small to properly palm grip for me (20,5x11cm hand).

A few notes however if you chose the gladius.

1. Don't download the software if you don't have to, click latency gets added with software.

2. Keep the receipt as the rubber grips on the sides sometimes fall off after a year or so.

I went from deqthadder (2012 version) to G502 and now FinalMouse Ergo.

FinalMouse Ergo and G502 have the shape most suitable for me. The ergo is actually even better because it's a shorter mouse. And only weights at 90g.

FinalMouse releases their Scream version (June-July) and is similar to Zowie so I recommend u look into these two :)
