Prefacing this, I'd like to state that there should probably be a stickied topic of recommended routers as I'm sure that this kind of post pops up a lot.

I'll keep this rather brief.

I'm looking for a router that meets the following criteria and is one of the best in its class. It needs at minimum:

  • ability to establish guest networks
  • wireless N (2 level house and I want to reach every corner of it)
  • DDWRT firmware support (never tried it before but I hear it's great)

I think that's all. I might want to wall mount it too but I'm not sure.

I'll provide more details as needed.

Mobile Devices I ASUS Zenbook UX31E I Nexus 7 (2013) I Nexus 5 32GB (red)

it doesnt have ddwrt suport but i have the asus n56u and its ridiculously amazing and stylish (if that matters to you) havent had an issue or a single hiccup in over 5 months. there is a custom firmware but i find the stock one better. this is the only router i can personally vouch for

You haven't stated a budget, but I generally recommend the ASUS N66u as a great all around router. The stock firmware is great and is probably more than you need, no reason for DDWRT.

Now, if you want AC (you'll pay a premium) ASUS just released the AC68u.
