ASUS Adaptive Mode

My i5-4690K is OC to 4.2GHz with a manual voltage of 1.18. I read up that using adaptive mode can lower the voltage when it is not necessary. So using adaptive mode I set the offset voltage to + 0.050 and when i booted back into windows, my voltage after the CPU had finished the loading phase when logging in, my voltage was at 1.2. I also noticed that there is a - sign in adaptive mode and a + sign. When i tried using the - sign, my PC didn't boot into windows. Can someone please help me?

Don't use adaptive voltage. Your current voltage is more than fine. 

Don't even use adaptive for dirty overclocks, if you stress test with the wrong program, oopsies you just damaged your just damaged your CPU.

Use manual.
