Is my GPU thermal trolling

Go to solution Solved by Lawliet93,

As it was said before... the top three fans are meant to pull air out of the case, what is happening is, that warm air is accumulating in the case and your card is reusing that air to cool itself, which leads to the temperatures skyrocketing. Turn the three fans in the top to pull air out of the case and change the thermal paste on your GPU (arctic Mx4 or thermal grizzly hydronaut should do just fine).

When playing overwatch my gpu load was on 100% and my core clock dropped from 1100 mhz to 1030 mhz

I was playing on the high preset on overwatch

on epic settings my GPU temps goes to 94c

I have a msi r9 390x gaming (explains the 1.1ghz) with no overclocks

the temperatures also reached 70c+ on 100% fan speed

yeah most GPUs start throttling at around 85C unless you have it set differently through the GPUs bios or MSI afterburner. You need to get some more air to that card or increase the fan speed on teh cards. Also changing thermal paste might not be to bad of an idea.
