Hello,

So somehow my PSU got broken when the power went off in my room. After that when I tried to turn it on again, it was dead silent. I think it got overvoltage and hopefully it's only PSU and not all the other parts as well.

So today I am going to borrow a PSU with 450W. My old one had 650W.

My question: Is it safe to test my computer with 450W PSU if it was running on 650W before?

My PC specs: (I don't know all the numbers of my PC specs)

Intel i7 CPU

8GB RAM

Nvidia 960 2GB GPU

1TB HDD

Asus "Gaming" motherboard

And a DVD-reader

Thank you,

derpylt

A decent 450W is sufficient to power that. No doubt someone will be along shortly to ask what PSU it is and if it is rubbish or not.

That's the G450M, if it works you'd be able to test your parts

That right won't even pull 250 W

Lets say I get this 450W PSU, and I order a new one. Do you think I can browse and play games with the 450W for a week until I get the new one?

Never heard of that brand, but as long as you dont put it as your permanent power solution i think you'll be fine.

I am thinking of borrowing it until I get a new one, for about a week.
When I get home today, and if all the other PC parts are fine, do you think it can cause some damage in the meanwhile seven days?

No, i think you will be fine. Did some snooping around about the brand, actually don't have to bad reviews and i according to a not so reliable source, it's seasonic rebadge.

If you wanna be on the safe side you could always run with v-sync on/cap your framerate to reduce power draw.
