What if Steam shut down one day?

Ever since I had a really rough encounter with steam a long... long... VERY long time ago. I avoid steam like the plague. In some cases where steam had an exclusive game I REALLY wanted to play. I'd buy the game, then wait for a no-steam crack release before actually playing the game (Skyrim comes to mind). I doubt I'd care if they shut down. lol
