Did Razer finally learn to cool it? 85GPU and 54CPU temps don't look bad. Or am I retarded and just reading this wrong.

ye i got a xps 15 too. repaste and undervolt brings it like 72 under prime95 and furmark loads. could probably bring 5-10C on the razer blade with some custom tweaking. though someone would need to make a custom bios to undervolt the dGPU.

I'm confused why it's throttling at 84C as well. Could be a fan profile in synapse, perhaps.

That's the max for mobile GPUs most of the times

The CPU is at those temps cause it's thorttling aka overheating

I misread it, thought that was 84cpu. Strange for a quad core CPU top be 50C during gaming.

The picture shows the CPU throttling, not the GPU. Yet, the CPU is relatively cool. That is what's so weird.

One of 2 things is happening

A - the Razer Bios is broken
B - the readouts are wrong

I'm inclined to say it's B since the 84*C GPU shares heat with the CPU via the heatpipes so the CPU should be warmer. Usually the blade CPUs run 6-10*C above the GPU which is close to the throttling point of Skylake (95*C)

All in all - still a hot mess

Agreed, something is wrong. Find it funny that the "overhauled" heating system is a traditional heat solution. Last year there was a bunch of noise made because repasting the blade caused higher temps due to it being direct heat-pipe transfer. Min-Liang Tan personally posted to say that the blades were ahead of the curve with their heat solution and they must not be repasted because they are using a superior method and paste.

And now, this year, they're back to a traditional heat spreader.

Nah, that's just a cover over the heatpipes. As for the "special paste" - people on notebookreview discovered it was a mix of random pastes and someone made an even more successful mix :D and achieved better results than Razer.

On a side note, the "new and improved" fans run at fucking 60dB - that's 20dB above most other gaming laptops and is literally a pain. It's actually louder than a reference 290X

That was actually me :D

I used an HDT-specialized paste. The real issue was (and still is) the temperatures of the case, that feels almost hot enough to burn you.

You were the guy who beat their paste? :D Nice work man

@Eason85 do you mind linking me your thread on notebookreview. Love your work on the XPS13 thermal pads btw.
