Measuring Noise

Hi Guys, I'm interested in measuring the noise various components on my PC produce, and was wondering what a good sound sensor to buy is? I'm curious to what PC reviewers like Linus and other guys use when they say things like "at 1 meter away the measurable noise is..."

I'd prefer something that I can actually hook up to my computer and make then record a measurement.
