Putting a server in a data center

Hello I have a home rack server that I'm wanting to build. I would use it for many different things that require a lot of internet and my home internet just isn't fast enough to be able to handle all of it. Want I wanted to know is if it would be possible to put it in a data center? Are there any data centers you recommend? It has to be in the United States to.

You're looking at collocation - the first thing you need to know is that server needs to be up to scratch because fixing things on the server can be annoying if it's anything beyond a dead hard drive. Secondly, collocation is generally expensive - $50 a month minimum for 1RU and 1amp of power which means a 120w draw. Older Intel 5000 series Xeon's often draw upward of 2 amps which will come with an extra fee.

I would go and have a look at Web Host Talk's colo hosting offers as well as associated reviews on the services. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=131

Have you looked into AWS?? You can migrate your server to the "cloud" and wouldn't have to worry about buying rack space, hardware, etc. It's pretty amazing and a lot cheaper than renting rack space.

  • Intel Core i7 2600k 4.5Ghz

Sapphire 7950

Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3

Corsair Vengeance 8GB

Cooler Master 850w

Corsair H100i

Fractal Design Define R4

Roccat Kone+ Mouse

Logitech G15 Keyboard

I HATE the cloud. The only thing I use it for is music and files I need access to on other computers. I would never ever use the cloud for anything other than that. Just...no I would much rather have a server that's mine and be able to fully control it
