I need help

i tried installing additional 1gb of RAM into my laptop, but the laptop won't detect that the ram is installed, when i tried removing and inserting the ram back in, the system won't start. please tell me how to fix this, i would appreciate the help very much.

could be a non-functioning stick. 

 

or the ram might not be compatible with your laptops motherboard

Well what laptop is it and how much ram does it have (whiteout the 1gb you have) maybe you already have the max ram your laptop can have

i have 2gb of ram default

Its not compatable. I can tell you RN. I used to have that laptop. It can only support the amount it came with - Mostly.

Satelites are good for notebook usage - but really dodgy.

It says it takes SDRAM

when i read the product description, it was supposed to support up to 8gb of ram

Did you put it in all the way?

does it work when you take the 1gb stick out? 

 

if yes, put the original stick in the slot you were trying to put the 1gb in... still work?

 

if so it's likely the ram stick is busted.

If it works when you take out the stick then the stick is probably dead

thx, maybe it is dead, because of the fact that i scavanged it from a used laptop
