Non-gaming laptop around $1000

Hey guys!

 

I have a friend who will be needing a laptop as he is going to college next semester.  I am to advise what to get, but would like some suggestions.  The price range is to be around 1000 USD but could go over if needed.

 

I suppose the laptop should be good quality with a good screen.  He isn't much of a gamer so the GPU isn't a high priority.  No size restrictions.

Avoid Razer and Acer. Go for a ThinkPad X250/X260 2nd hand

Or a brand new x260 they are about 800-1000$ for a i5

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

Very good quality and nice display. (Both the 1080p and QHD)
