can some one tell me if this is a good gaming build??

cotrell

What he said, CPU and GPUs are a bit older. I would go with the 1155 socket because you can upgrade later. Or you can just get a 3570K.

But the CPU you chose should be OK for gaming.

16GB RAM is a bit over kill for gaming, 8 should be enough.

I have the same case and it is great.

CPU: AMD 3950x Mobo: MSI B550 RAM: 32GB DDR4 GPU: Asus 3080 Strix PSU: Superflower Leadex 3 720w Case: BeQuiet 500DX

Storage: 2TB SSD + 4TB HDD Audio: SMSL 793ii -> HiFiman HE-400 + Mission MS-50 Speakers

windspeed36, sorry about that. my budget is 1000 give or take about 100, us dollars. im also going to be using this pc for casual gaming, minecraft, diablo, skyrim, things of that sort, im only using one moniter, i also need a keyboard. and windows 7. im upgrading because im using a laptop right now, and it barely runs any games. its about a year old. i hope this is enough info for a good response.

Okay - working with $900 give or take. (OS is another $100)

3470/3570K/AMD 8350/8150

Asus P8Z77-M or ASRock Extreme 4 or AMD equivalent

8 GB 1600 C9 RAM - Corsair Vengeance, GSkill Ares

GTX660TI or 7850/7870 - I like the MSI cards because they run quite cold and are fairly quiet. Asus in my opinion are also pretty good although I am starting to hear of people finding them too noisy.

Seagate Barracuda 1TB

500-600W PSU - Corsair, Silverstone, Seasonic, Antec

Case is up to you.

If you're not planning on overclocking, stick with the stock cooler and go with a locked Intel CPU if you were looking at Intel and just go with a H77 motherboard and spend the money saved on a GPU upgrade. If you are overclocking, I'd look at a CM 212 Evo for about $30 - It'll get you to 4.2 easily on a 3570K. Another place you could shell out a few dollars on is with an SSD. It'll dramatically improve your boot time but isn't a necessity.

You can spend more on a motherboard, or keyboard if you want. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/H8w0

The motherboard I choose is cheap and you won't be able to overclock much, you will want to overclock, spend a bit more on the mobo and get a MSI Z77A-GD55.

If you don't want to overclock do what windspeed suggested and get a H77 mobo and locked CPU>

Yeah it's more than enough for basic games on one monitor.

ok, thanks man.
I made another build if you are not overclocking and added a thermal paste: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/H8I8

If you are serious about gaming, I recommend saving up and getting a mechanical keyboard.

This has over clocking available however I haven't included a CPU cooler because I doubt you have the ability to.

This doesn't have overclocking available but is still a very good system.

I haven't listed an SSD on either of them however they're only another $100 - Samsung 840, Sandisk Extreme, Intel 330.

You will have to spend at leas $80 for a good mechanical keyboard. I don't recommend Blues for gaming. Go with Reds or browns.
