Is there an ideal order for installing drivers after a clean Windows installation?

Also, when should Windows Update be done?

Before or after driver installation?

If before, then should I install just the LAN driver first in order to access the Windows Update?

Or does none of this matter at all?

Thanks~

i normally install my drivers before letting windows update, as it might apply it's own driver to my hardware (and it installed the wrong audio driver once)

the order of the driver doesnt matter AFAIK

By any chance did it install sound blaster reccon instead of sound blaster z? I had this problem.

Yeah well, from the research I've done browsing, I got all kinds of different opinions. Some say to Windows Update first, and some say to install drivers first.

Not saying I'm surprised about the different opinions (it being the internet and everything :P). It's just the lack of consensus that frustrates me, hehe.

I guess that may be partly because there really is no right or wrong order. But I will follow the advices given here and install the drivers first and then Windows Update.

I usually install LAN and chipset drivers first. Then I start windows update (reboot to get ethernet working might be needed) and install rest of drivers and software 2-4 at the same time. Installers will tell you if you need to wait until other install processes is done. Then reboot whenever Windows update needs it.

I haven't clean installed Win8/.1/10 so I don't know if you need so many reboots with WinUpdate as you need with WIn7.
