One of the guys in our office is getting this error:

Meaning: The network connection to the File is broken, or the File is changed by another process.
(the exact translation is probably slightly different)

It happens when he's using files in Photoshop / InDesign that are stored on the network (network attached storage).
We're using a Windows Server environment.

Any ideas where the problem could be ? I have never seen this before and I am clueless..

// not sure if this belongs here or to the OS X forum, as it's kind of related to both.

This might seem like an obvious/stupid thing to ask, but you should make sure that no one else is trying to access/open the file at the same time.

He might simply be trying to open a file that someone else is already working on.

What happens when he copies said file to his own desktop then tries to open it? Does it happen all of the time, or just some times? Does it happen with every file type, or just certain ones? Does it happen with every application, or just Photoshop/InDesign?

Log in to the (assumed) windows server where this file is hosted. Go to Computer Management (found either burried in your start menu, or control panel > administrative tools (may need to chose "small icons" to find admin tools) then go to Shares, and look at either Sessions or Open Files - do this when he is complaining. Check to see if said file is open by another person or still locked from an old session.
