i'll try your solution then too @noisebomb44

tried alot of other "fixes"

like putting the latest physx from the nvidia files into the metro files

repaired vcredist

reinstalled the game

checked the game files with steam

resolution and DX changes in the config

nothing worked

Although have you tried uninstalling the new physicsx drivers you already have on your computer, and replacing them with the old ones found in the game directory? There seems to be a lot of people who solved it that way

Maybe, although there are not that many out there that require the latest physicsx drivers

If you really wanted to you could make a virtual machine dedicated to metro 2033, or just reinstall the drivers every time you want to switch game

try running the benchmark without starting the game

It works for some people, even though the main game crashes, and it should narrow down the possibilities

Try this

Quote

1) Find legal.ogv file in /Metro 2033 Redux/2033 folder.
2) Copy legal.ogv file to somewhere 'safe' on your system where you can find it later if you need to. Delete the original legal.ogv file in the 2033 folder.
3) Open Notepad, click Save As, then save as legal.ogv. This creates a blank ogv file. Save this file in the /Metro 2033 Reux/2033 folder.
4) You should now be able to launch the game, and you also won't have the long intro video (legal.ogv is the intro video I believe - that's what's been causing the hangs & crashes when people have been getting black screens on startup).

Also, are you running any recording programs like dxtory in the background, it seems to cause problems

The only thing i can think of then is disabling the steam overlay and steam cloud sync for the game

And maybe forcing it into windowed mode by going into the settings file will help
