Hello, I need a new desktop computer and I don't know much except that building is better than buying. My price range is anywhere up to about $1500 USD +/- $100 (INCLUDING a 144 hz monitor). When giving advice, pretend I have no idea what I'm doing, I've never seen a computer before, and I have no materials whatsoever. All I have is a regular wall plug with two inputs and a mouse. I need a machine for doing light photo editing, video editing, and that can run low to midrange games (Minecraft, Hearthstone, League of Legends, etc.) at a solid FPS (60 - 100) with everything maxed out. I also need it to be able to multitask well, run quietly, and generally just be pretty clean, simple, and easy. Can you guys also help me with what I should do after buying the parts (i.e. do I need to buy an operating system, which do you recommend, how do I install it, what else should I install right out of the box, and the works)

Thanks <3

Add another $200 or so for peripherals and your monitor.

Well you don't need to spend that much, this will do all of that and includes a 1080p 144hz free-sync display

only thing I'd maybe do is upgrade the display to a 1440p 144hz IPS display, but those are $550

any G-sync displays are going to cost extra so, I'd probably avoid an nvidia GPU, though you should wait 2 months to buy your GPU and go with polaris, or buy a 380 which is around $200 and save some money there

You could also go X99, though that's complete overkill, although you'd never have to replace your CPU

Really isn't going to be worth buying the 6700K in most cases when the 5820K costs about the same, just gotta spend a bit more on the motherboard
